When I bought a house in Fort Worth, Texas I made the decision to repair it up; I hated that the house looked kind of like an old farmhouse.
I did everything I could to modernize it. I scraped all my pretzels ceilings, added a coat of mud, sanded, & then painted smooth. I added recessed lighting. I changed the brown carpet to gray tile. I painted all the walls with cool tones. I even added custom furniture pieces of dark wood & fancier couches & chairs to the home. I redid the entryway with stainless steel appliances, better backsplash, & choice curtains… The house is a blend of farmhouse & modern, then one thing that I certainly feel added a nice final touch was the wall temperature control. There was an old dial temperature control that used a plastic toggle, then you could toggle between 50, 60, 69, 78, & 90. That was about it. It wasn’t all that precise & was straight-forward to bump. My fiance hit it all the time & could not study the numbers. It looked ugly & clashed with my decor. I talked to the local Fort Worth Heating & A/C business about what I could do. They recommended changing it to a smart temperature control. These current innovations come with silver surrounds, attractive interfaces, & wireless capability… We can now change the heating & cooling from our iPhones. It learns cooling behaviors so my associate and I don’t even need to lift a finger, however energy tracking, geofencing, air filter alerts, & voice recommend are other pros to this system. I have to say the appearance of the temperature control still remains my number one thing.
