My boyfriend and I moved to Plano, TX after graduating college.
We had neve lived down south before.
We also had never owned an air conditioner. We were renting a small, two bedroom house in the city. It was really nice location wise and size for us. The change from living in the dorms to a rental was shocking. Calling a landlord for issues turned out to be pointless. Thank the lord my boyfriend is super handy. He was able to fix a whole mess of problems. He kept the dryer from stopping or starting on fire. He fixed the stove knob, the dishwater leaking, the outdoor faulty lights, and the garbage disposal. His best was the AC system though. We hadn’t even seen AC outside of a business before. So getting our hands on one was a brand new experience. We had really inferior cooling for a long time. Finally my boyfriend told me that something must be wrong. He assessed the inner workings and changed the air filter. He cleaned around the inside of it. He even called the landlord asking for an AC repair in Plano, TX. The guy did nothing. After research and trial and error my boyfriend found that our outdoor unit was tilted. All the refrigerant was pooled to one side. After rightint it with cement blocks the refrigerant then was introduced to the air and we experienced cold again. It was wonderful to finally deal with a Plano summer and not be sweltering. Maybe my boyfriend should be a Plano HVAC technician.
