I got married right in the height of COVID and had to book a honeymoon. I wanted to go overseas to a European destination. Those places did not allow travelers from the United States. If the country did, all the testing and paperwork requirements were very scary. The last thing I wanted to do was worry about obtaining a negative COVID test and possibly not be allowed to come home. My fiance and I then came to the sad conclusion that we had to do a local honeymoon destination. At first I wasn’t even excited to start researching honeymoon locations. Then I quickly realized that you can have a good honeymoon within the United States. I actually booked us for almost a week in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was worried that we would run out of things to do. After a bit of research, I found that is not possible. I even had us switch hotels mid trip because even the places to stay were cool. There is a hotel with a rooftop bar that overlooks the city. There is one that is a high end resort with a giant spa. The one hotel I ended up booking had live music Thursday through Saturday. They either had jazz or latin music playing right at our hotel. It was really fun getting a drink and listening. Another fun thing we did was visit the cannabis dispensaries that were right in town. We could get a spa treatment and then pick up some legal weed. It was a really good trip after all.
